Airbrush makeup has been around for quite a few years and although it is becoming more popular for HDTV and film, it is ideal for weddings. Your wedding is one of the biggest days of your life not to mention your most photographed. As well as making you look flawless in 'real life' with no need for touch ups, airbrush makeup is also a huge help for the photographer as you will look amazing in the photographs with no need for re-touching.

So when choosing a makeup artist you may want to check if they offer airbrush makeup.

Why choose Airbrush Makeup?

Airbrush foundation is finely misted on to the skin unlike conventunal foundation which is rubbed into the skin. This allows the skin to breath while keeping it hydrated, sweat-proof, waterproof and transfer-resistant which means that your makeup will stay perfectly made-up for over 14 hours - so you'll be looking as beautiful at midnight as you did when the makeup was first applied. The makeup is also non-comedogenic so you do not run the risk of a bad skin outbreak before your honeymoon and it is suitable for all skin types.

Airbrush makeup works through an air compressor that sprays a fine mist of product to gently cover the skin. Tiny microdots of makeup are sprayed onto the surface of the skin and the amount of product sprayed can be easily controlled which creates a very natural look as it prevents the build-up of too much makeup which can look cakey and aging. Although it gives your face a natural look it can cover up or conceal freckles, blemishes, birthmarks, scars, or acne.

Your Trial

A trial is where you meet a makeup artist and discuss what kind of look you would like for your wedding day. If you have specific looks in mind take photographs with you as this is a day to try out lots of ideas. If you are allergic to silicone it is important to tell your makeup artist as the airbrush foundations will either be water or silicone based, and you don't want to risk an allergic reaction before your wedding. Both the water and silicone based airbrush makeup work very well.

Your makeup artist will check your foundation colour by testing it along your jaw line. If the air pressure is too much for you let them know so they can adjust the pressure. This is not a painful experience so if you feel uncomfortable stop the makeup artist and let them know how you feel. After the application you will be able to see first hand just how flawless it looks and long it lasts.

Removing Airbrush Makeup

Even though the makeup will still look beautiful as you are about to go to bed the last thing your new husband will want to see is your mascara smudged down your cheeks in the morning! You may be thinking how do I remove long-lasting waterproof makeup? Simply use warm water and your favorite cleanser which will be enough to breakdown the particles in the makeup and remove it with ease and no mess.

Lastly, enjoy your big day!
