Whenever I ask women about their beauty regime, one thing tends to be missed or raises questions. Why should we use primers & highlighters? What are the best ones available? How much do they cost? Being a student myself I know these products are often quite pricey; but there are some cheap alternatives...

Splurge

Steal

Benefit's "that gal” brightening face primer; £21.50

This product can be used on its own or under foundation to give skin a glowing complexion. It also improves make-up application & smells gorgeous!

Soap & Glory's Glow Lotion highlighter; £5.11

I have to admit I stumbled across this by accident; after running out of face highlighter, I tested a body highlighter on my face. The results were amazing! The product is exactly like Benefit’s “that gal” primer and a fraction of the price!

Clarins' Instant Light Complexion; £24

Blends easily to create a flawless complexion on its own or mixed with foundation. This product doesn’t have the same glittery effect but gives a perfect dewy complexion suitable for day or night.

No7 Skin Illuminator; £11

A ‘prime’ example of not to judge a book by its cover... it may not look much but this product works wonders. I would advise not to use the brush but instead remove the lid and apply with fingers for an even base.

YSL Top Secrets Flash Radiance Skincare Brush; £36

YSL claims that Top Secrets "instantly erases the signs of a fast-paced lifestyle." This is an ingenious primer worth every penny! Treat your skin to a little bit of luxury, you’ll reap the benefits!

17 Photo Flawless Primer; £4.99

This product blends on to skin easily; masking pores and creating a glowing base. A tiny amount will make a big difference. Leaves skin silky & soft, this product is a must & at this price and no make-up bag deserves to be without one!
