Elemis - FreshSkin Range

Introduction

Until recently, the only skincare products specifically formulated for teenage and young skin were spot-fighting, harsh facial washes and zit pads in uninspiring packaging. That is until now. Those clever people at British brand Elemis have developed a range of nine key products from soothing eye gel to cleansing wipes, specifically aimed at girls in their teens and early twenties. The range is designed to match the lives (and purses) of younger women. Being within the target age-range myself - albeit at the upper end - I couldn’t wait to give it a go.

Science

Each product in the range contains active key ingredients such as elderflower, rosehip seed oil, apple, blackcurrant, goji berry and geranium. These ingredients help to prevent damage and boost skin's elasticity- helping skin to remain youthful for longer.

Noella Gabriel, director of product and treatment development at Elemis said, "I strongly feel that this age group is trapped in the 'inbetweener' age group, - skin that needs more than just basic cleansing. We really want freshskin to become a girl's first serious skincare regime using high performance ingredients with lightweight textures.”

I tried and tested three products from the range, Peachy Perfect Gentle Face Wash, Softly Softly Daily Moisturiser and Dreamy Sleep Night-Time Moisturiser.

The peachy perfect face wash comes in a handy pump and is packed with elderflower, lemon and chicory extract. The scent is not overpowering or artificial and my skin feels brighter after several days of use.  At £12 a bottle, the price is pretty reasonable too.

imageAs a fan of Elemis’ other products, I was eager to see how the freshskin line of moisturisers compared. I quickly realised that Elemis have not cut any corners as far as quality or ingredients are concerned. The Softly Softly Daily Moisturiser sank into my skin effortlessly and smells divine. A little definitely went a long way and it’s fair to say the £20 price tag, in my opinion, is well worth it. With seaweed extract and sweet almond oil, the moisturiser is both light and hydrating – perfect for younger skins.

imageThe Dreamy Sleep Night-Time Moisturiser (£22) is my must-have favourite item from the range. Formulated with vitamins A, C and E it’s the perfect way to cheat a great night’s sleep. The product is rich and the deliciously scented lavender essential oils are perfect for tiered skin.  Although as a night cream, the product is heavier, it did not sit on my skin or leave a greasy residue.

Verdict

Elemis have managed to develop a simple skincare range for younger skin that still feels luxurious. Although some of the products may be on the pricier side for cash-strapped teens (£8 for face wipes) I believe it is worth investing in a few key products now, for skin to reap the rewards later.
