Liz Earle - 3 Step Regime
Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise. Three simple steps, twice a day, every day. Religiously. It’s the unwritten rule of being a woman. We should always invest in good skin-care, after all, the secret to a glowing complexion is all in the prep work, isn’t it ladies?
Liz Earle is a botanically-base beauty company. They source all their ingredients sustainably, do not test on animals, nor do they contain animal ingredients. This was a really positive aspect of the products for me.
Ingredients are not genetically engineered, and are organic. Preservatives are only used where natural ones are not available. Cleanse and Polish is plant-based containing eucalyptus and coco butter. Instant boost skin tonic and skin repair moisturiser both contain naturally sourced vitamin E. Instant boost skin tonic is also alcohol free.
I stumbled across the Liz Earle shop just off Kings road, and thought I'd try a little up-market treat, to see if I could rescue my skin. After flicking through the catalogue, and reading some positive reviews, I popped back in and picked up a cleanse, tone, moisturize combination.
The “Cleanse and Polish hot cloth cleanser” is in a bottle with a pump, which is great because you just squirt out the amount you need, no mess, no wastage. Apply the cleanser to a dry face/face of make-up and then run your muslin cloth (provided) under warm/hot water, and use this to remove the makeup and cleanser. It was all a very new experience, I have never used a muslin cloth with a cleanser before, nor had I ever applied cleanser to a dry face/face full of make-up. I have to say, I did find that a little strange at first, but it quickly became a skin treat I looked forward to each morning and evening.
The muslin cloth works as an exfoliator on the skin, which left my skin feeling refreshed and revitalised. This process ensures that you have removed every last trace of makeup, or cleanser and is gentle at the same time. My skin felt so sparkling and clean afterwards, and in no way dry or tight like some cleansers tend to do. It has a really fresh floral scent, which I liked because it’s not too overpowering. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I hate using strongly scented products on my face. The clarifying lotion “Instant Boost Skin Tonic” has removed excess dirt from my skin, I was surprised at the difference it made even after I had removed my make-up and cleansed my face thoroughly. It has also begun to reduce the size or my pours, which is really impressive. I’ve found many other cleansers to smell quite strongly of alcohol so I am pleased that this one is alcohol free.
The “Skin repair Moisturiser” was so light and sank into my skin almost immediately. It left my skin feeling super smooth and is actually a really good base to use before make up too. Once again, it has a gorgeous scent.
Overall I’ve seen a noticeable difference in my skin since using these products. My skin is usually dry in places and oily in places, a nightmare to control, but Liz Earle left it feeling clean and soft with less blemishes appearing. I'm finding that my make-up is looking better for it. My skin looks dewy and radiant, just as it should be. I don’t think I ever want to use anything else!
Packaging & Price
It’s a pretty good size for the price, not expensive, in fact it is very reasonable at £41 for the set (100ml Cleanse and Polish, 200ml Instant Boost Skin Tonic, and 50ml Skin Repair Moisturiser).
You can also buy them individually, £11.75 each for the cleanser and toners, but for a moisturiser it is still a little more than I would personally like to pay at £17.60.
The packaging has been kept a simple, mint colour, no fuss and easy to apply. I like it.
Overall score: 9/10
I'm a fan of this range, after trying a couple of high-end skincare brands such as Clinique and Clarins, Liz Earle has come up top!
Anything I choose to rave about, I really love, and this is definitely a thumbs-up. I realise it may not work well with everyone’s skin, but for me it deserves all the praise it’s getting. Fantastic products; effective, fragrant and refreshing.
