Maybelline - Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24H
Maybelline’s Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner claims to ‘reinvent’ the traditional kohl eye-liner, and promises smudge proof results for up to twenty four hours. The gel, oil free formula, comes with a precision tip brush which can be used to create dramatic lines and the on trend cats eye and smokey look. Currently the gel eye-liner is only available in No.1 Intense Black in the UK.
We’ve all seen the advert, Jameela Jamil watches how a Maybelline make-up artist creates the perfect flick, but is it really as easy as she makes out?
My quest to find the perfect eye-liner has been a long battle. I’ve tried kohl pencils, liquid liners and even had a go at using black eyeshadow, neither have been successful, and often at the end of the night I’m left with panda eyes or barely there liner, despite spending hours trying to create an enviable look.
So I thought I’d give Maybelline’s new Lasting Drama Eye-liner a go. I found the gel liner very easy to use, applying a small amount onto the brush and wiping any excess back into the pot. The colour went on very evenly, and using the fine tip of the brush I was able to create a perfect straight line across the edge of my lashes. The gel also dried a lot quicker than most liquid eye-liners do, which meant I could apply another coat without having to worry about smudging.
After a night out, the liner hadn’t budged and looked the same as when I applied it. However it did take some effort to get off, even with a good quality make-up remover.
Another downfall of this product, I would say, is the intensity of the look, which makes it a bit dramatic for daytime use. But otherwise, I was very impressed with the gel-liner. It’s easy and quick to apply and creates a long lasting look. I’ll definitely be converting to the gel-liner having been able to master both straight lines and the flick whilst using it.
The gel eyeliner comes in a small pot, along with the brush, both of which are packaged in a handbag sized box.
At £7.99, the price is comparable with other eye-liners, and in my opinion well-worth the money.
The gel eye-liner, along with other Maybelline products, are available at Boots, Superdrug and all good stores.
Overall score: 9/10
Maybelline’s Lasting Drama gel eye-liner is my new must-have. It’s easy to use, long lasting and comes in a tidy little box. Best of all, the precision tip brush makes it easy to draw straight lines and master tricky looks. All in all, an innovative product which creates professional results without needing to spend hours in front of the mirror.
